• Use positive and negative space in an interesting way.

• Understand and use elements of art: shape & space (positive and negative).

• Understand and use principles of art: contrast & balance (symmetry and asymmetry).

Culture/Concept Studied: Japanese concept of Notan

I learned that I don't have to be a good drawer to be good at art! I enjoyed this project, and I didn't use too much of my artistic ability other than creativity. Also I learned that in art you must be creative. This is important to my learning because it taught me to think outside the box, and not to use the everyday creativity. Get good ideas!
