Leading Lines!! :0

This shows leading lines well. As you can see, there are various lines leading to the point in the woods. Also, there are some diagonal lines, that comes across the picture, which also makes the photo more cool, and makes your eyes follow those lines to the right and the left side of the picture. There is a arrow pointing up the the vanish point. That is one oh my fab photos that I could have used for leading lines! Okay! Bye.

Oaxacan Clay Bowl

Mexico is very large, it spreads from the southern part of the United States, to the Caribbean Sea! Pretty large I'd say! Mexico covers around 460,000 square miles, pretty big if you think about it! Mexico is home to the worlds largest peninsula! That peninsula is the Baja Peninsula. Mexico also is a home to the a lot of active volcanos! Now that is pretty scary! AHH! Mexico has rain forests, several deserts, and also it has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world! Western Mexico is mostly very hot, and dry, when in the east is more humid and icky wet. The swaps in Mexico are fed by underwater springs, the only swamps in the world to have that! ¡Interesante! (interesting). Every Nov. 2nd (not every other) there is a joyous holiday. That is when the dead are said to return to the earth to walk again! It is Mexico's idea of Halloween! In the days leading up to the joyous holiday, families build alters in their homes. Now at midnight, on Nov. 1st, families go to the grave yard, and visit loved ones that have passed on. The bring them gifts, such as plates, and the deceased favorite foods.

Still Life Drawing! :)

Purpose:

  • To create a still-life drawing that demonstrates understanding of angles & ellipses in perspective, along with using a variety of mark-making techniques to describe form and value;
  • To demonstrate quality craftsmanship and good composition skills in a drawing.

I tried to exhibit the technique of Henry Moore! I used the lines that Henry Moore would use, and if he was to look at mine, he might say “wow”. I did a great job with shading, going from dark, to light, or the other way around. I did leave it so you can see the brown paper, but that makes it look good. If you see this by the common eye, one might enjoy looking at it. I think the lining somewhat worked well with me.

I learned all of the line stuff. Such as pressing harder, or putting your lines together makes it darker, and not pushing it as hard and putting your lines further apart will make it lighter! All of this is important because it helps me become a well rounded artist!

Purpose:
  • To create a drawing that imitates the artists composition, mark-making, and style;
  • To make connections between this exercise and the final still-life drawing, by using some of the techniques and marks that the master artists used.

5 Fab Faces!:)

Tuesday, April 8, 2014

Purpose

  • To determine where values change when light moves over an uneven surface by using a range of gray values to paint the different values in a realistic self-portrait;

  • To become familiar with the structure of the face by painting a realistic self-portrait.
  • To effectively communicate an image that looks like you through careful examination of the values of your face

Artist Studied

Lucy Fradkin, Anne Harris, Gwen Hardie, Vincent Giarrano, and Tun Ping Wang!

I am most proud of my hair. I think that my hair is very well defined, and it looks very cool. I think it looks cool the way the other colors are shining from the light. Also I think the the features in my hair, such as the outline looks really defined. It borders the background color very well, and I think that the background color works well with my warm blue!:)

I think the feedback the Isabella gave me was very helpful! She told me that I needed more work and more detail in the eye area. So I did so; I believe that when I made changes in my eyes, and made them more detailed it made my artwork better. Also she told me that another coat was needed on the entire painting, which I proceeded to do, and at the end of the day, that made a heck of a difference!:P
